Marvin Tyrone Tilford, 72, was born on September 7, 1938 to Harry C. Tilford, Sr. and Effie Dee (Johnson) Tilford in Kansas City, Missouri. Both parents and a sister, Racine Brodie preceded him in death.
Marvin was a lifelong area resident and attended the Kansas City, Missouri public schools and was a graduate of R. T. Coles Vocational High School. He was a U. S. Marine veteran.
Marvin accepted Christ at an early age. He recently attended Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. John Mitchell. He was employed at by the Rose Garment Company for many years. In recent years he was a porter at Billy's Pacesetter Barbershop.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Tyrone Hogan, Kansas City, KS; four brothers, Harry Tilford, Jr., (Nana), Richard Tilford, Lane H. Tilford and David M. Tilford, Kansas City, MO; three sisters, Joan Allen, Fontana, CA, Delores Ealy (Billy), Denver, CO, and Audrey M. Mitchell (Rev. John), Kansas City, MO; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Mitchell officiating. Burial Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, October 21, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E.
